LEE NADELA
Slapshock

Note: We are featuring Lee of Slapshock primarily because the band is currently on the final stretch of its bar tour. This way you can catch them live and witness the great potential of one extra ordinary Filipino Bassist.

Most Slapshock watchers may have all eyes trained at frontman Jamir Garcia, but the instrumentalists in the band are no slouch themselves in the theatrics department. We've observed that bassist Lee Nadela, together with guitarists Lean and Jerry, perform this odd sort of choreography during gigs. Every now and then they align themselves in formation, position themselves towards the back of the stage, and then run towards the audience (as in CHARGE!!!), stop at the edge of the stage, crouch low and play their instruments, stand up and walk backawards towards the rear of the stage... repeating this cycle several times during the course of a song. I'm reminded of the way marines do bayonetting exercises at boot camp. Well, it sure beats standing solitarily in a dark corner, noodling on bass lines, as has been the stance of most rock bassists from John Entwhistle (The Who) on up.

Lee Nadela is the most serious member. He has a day job as an assistant to a congressman. He took up History in college and says maybe he can run for office if he's too old to rock n' roll. He reads Anne Rice, listens to world music and likes girls he can debate with. He can sleep just about anywhere. Don't leave him alone because he's likely to be asleep when you return. He walks like he's always being chased and even once left a date panting behind him. But Lee wasn't fast enough when a guy squeezed him where the sun don't shine as he hung from a packed jeep inside UP - the stranger even had the time to smile at him!
